Harvester blades are in long-term contact with muddy water, straw humus, field acids and alkalis, and alternating dry and wet conditions. Additionally, they are prone to wear due to high-speed cutting. Therefore, anti-corrosion measures need to balance rust prevention, maintaining sharpness/wear resistance, and also distinguish between the cutting edge (which cannot have a thick coating) and non-cutting surfaces. The following is organized into three categories: "Industrial Mass Production Treatment", "Daily Use and Maintenance", and "Material-Source Anti-Corrosion", all of which are practical solutions in the agricultural machinery industry:
I. Common Anti-Corrosion Treatments for Industrial Mass Production
1.Blackening / bluing: Thin oxide film, does not blunt the edge, used with anti-rust oil, universal and low-cost.
2.Phosphating + painting / powder coating: Anti-corrosion for the back of the blade and non-cutting surfaces, resistant to mud and water.
3.Nitriding treatment: Applicable to the cutting edge, anti-rust + wear-resistant, commonly used for high-end blades.
4.Stainless steel / composite stainless steel: Anti-rust from the material, suitable for paddy fields and high-humidity environments.
5.Hot-dip galvanizing / electro-galvanizing: Only used for tool holders and non-cutting parts.
II. Daily Use Anti-Corrosion (Simple and Effective)
1.After work, clean up mud, remove straw, and air-dry.
2.When idle, apply engine oil / anti-rust oil and store in a sealed container.
3.Do not apply thick coating on the cutting edge; only protect the non-cutting surfaces.
4.Touch up paint / oil promptly on damaged coatings.
