When rubber is cut at high speed, it generates smoke and fumes due to frictional heat. This is especially noticeable with synthetic rubber and rubber compounds containing additives, where the smoke is more prominent.
Ventilation is not absolutely necessary, but it depends on the working environment:
Outdoor, open, and well-ventilated areas generally do not require additional ventilation;
In workshops, enclosed/semi-enclosed spaces, smoke tends to accumulate and contains harmful volatile substances. Long-term inhalation can irritate the respiratory tract, so it is strongly recommended to install ventilation.
Common solutions: local exhaust fans and gas collection hoods above the cutting point, which directly extract smoke from the source, not only protecting workers' health but also meeting workshop safety requirements.
