How To Select VFFS Multilane Heat Seal Jaw Blades

Multilane VFFS machines are widely used in food and daily chemical packaging factories to produce multiple sachets per cycle. The heat seal jaw blade is the key part to create consistent, leak-proof seals for each lane. Poorly matched jaws cause frequent downtime, weak seals, film sticking and uneven sealing lines, bringing extra production losses. For packaging engineers and procurement buyers, proper selection of VFFS multilane heat seal jaw blades helps keep high-speed lines stable.

Base material is the first consideration. It decides hardness, thermal stability and wear resistance under continuous heating. For regular medium-speed packaging lines, 420 stainless steel is a cost-effective food-grade choice, with good corrosion resistance and stable performance for most PE and laminated films. For non-stop 24-hour heavy production, SKD11 alloy tool steel works better. After vacuum heat treatment, SKD11 features outstanding wear resistance and thermal stability, and resists deformation under repeated heat and pressure. Avoid low-carbon steel substrates, which deform quickly under heat and result in inconsistent sealing across lanes.

Surface coating greatly affects performance. PTFE coating is widely used for sticky materials like powder, syrup and wet paste. It prevents packaging film from sticking to jaw surfaces and reduces bag waste and cleaning work. For abrasive films or high-cycle production, TiN PVD coating raises surface hardness and extends service life. Always check coating uniformity and bonding strength. Low-quality coating will peel off quickly after heating and damage seal quality.

Machining precision controls multilane synchronization. Even minor flatness errors on jaw surfaces lead to uneven pressure between lanes. Some lanes get over-sealed and burn the film, while others form leaky weak seals. Reliable manufacturers use multi-stage CNC machining and stress relief treatment for tight flatness and parallelism control. If your machine uses non-standard installation sizes, custom CNC machining is needed. Confirm drawings or samples before bulk orders.

Seal serration design must match your packaging film. Fine and even serrations distribute pressure evenly for thin multi-layer laminates and prevent film tearing. Coarser serrations fit thicker heavy-duty films. PE, PET or foil composite films require different serration depth and pitch. Do not reuse old jaw profiles when switching packaging materials, or seal failure will happen. Share your film specs with us to get matched serration design.

Common buying mistakes: only compare unit price without checking heat treatment and machining quality; ignore thermal expansion which causes warping after long heating; buy standard jaws without checking lane spacing. Standard off-the-shelf jaws seldom fit custom multilane equipment perfectly.

We provide OEM custom heat seal jaw blades with full technical support. Our team will confirm machine model, lane quantity, speed, film material and working temperature before quotation. Sample testing is available for verification before mass production.
